Another Nirbhaya has happened, God knows how many are happening and how many more
willl happen!
The spirit of every Kalpana Chawla, a nirbhaya would dampen.
we are failing miserably, that too as Human Beings,
No progress seems to help us by any means!
An indigenous GPS we now own,
But are souls have sadly turned to stone.
Shameful, sad, disappointing, unfortunate, I am at a grave loss of words. How do I express the abysmal pain, sorrow and fear I feel at the fate of another Nirbhaya, this time from Kerala- the state with the highest literacy rate in the country. What leaves me aghast is the fact that what is it that brings up these inexplicably gruesome, inhuman attacks upon the unfortunate woman? My education in law does not help me to understand the whys, hows and how to stop them of these crimes because I feel so terrified as a woman that the lawyer in me succumbs to the helplessness of being a woman. Nirbhaya was a doctor in the making and this poor soul a lawyer. Is this the punishment we as a society have determined for the new age women who are trying to break open the shackles of all sorts of limitations through education and independence. We rape, assault, disgrace, throw acid on and murder these women for their audacity to attempt to live their lives on their own.
Why is no eveteaser scared of the innumerable bystanders?
Why woman empowerment is just a rhetoric?
Something has grossly gone wrong with us as a society. Is it our education system or family values or moral uprightness? How long and how far shall we betray the Devi, the Durga? Sorry Nirbhaya we have failed you again.
